I do accept as true with all the concepts you have offered in your post.
They are really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are
too brief for novices. May you please extend them a little from next time?
Thanks for the post.
Richard!! I had to stop by and say HI! It has to be at least 10 years or so. (no I am not the 20 something young brat I use to be lol) I went to NZ in 2001 for a year, so sometime just before. I wanted to say, it looks like you have an amazing family and heaps of friends who are supporting you through this transition. You were truly a genuine and caring person. I really do wish you all the best, Richard.

Hey bro just to let you know im here for you any time its amasing how much people care everyone I talk to always asked how your doing amazing see you in sept steve
I’m thousands of miles away and I don’t know you but your story helps me with mine. My own dad, he’s 47 years old too, was just in a car crash. He’s hundreds of miles away from us so I’m spending my night and morning on the computer looking for some help and hope. I”m about to be a senior in high school and my whole world is turning upside down too. I have a sister who’s going to be a sophomore in colllege, a brother about to go away to be a freshman in college, a brother going into 10th grade, one going into 7th, one going into 6th, a sister heading for 5th, and the youngest brother is going into 3rd grade. I keep telling myself that it could be worse, a lot worse. My life is being touched by the same tragedy as yours and it’s comforting to know I’m not alone in all of this. I’ll add your family to my list of prayers and I hope that you manage to make it work too.
Hi Richard and Sheila. Just wanted to send a note to let you know I was thinking of you. I am not sure if Darcy and Alex made it in to see you last week, but I wanted to let you know that I wished I could have been with them.I hope you are well and think of you all often. Give the kids a big hug from Lachlan, Molly, and I.
Take care! Kim
Dear Richard and family,
We recently read of your unfortunate accident in the REM paper. We are sending our prayers and wish you a speedy recovery. Take it “one day at a time”. We have made a donation via CIBC here in Halifax, NS.
Take care of each other,
Joanne and Terry Montague

Hey Richard, I cannot believe this is how we are finally getting in contact . I have been thinking of you alot and been praying for you and your beautiful family. It seem like just yesterday that I saw you. You are one of the strongest people that I have known, and I am sure you and your family will make it through this. Hope that I will be able to see you soon, that it is not in another 20 years. Miss your smile -Sandra
I came across your story in the local newspaper. Words can’t capture what I feel for all of you. Richard from all I have read, you obviously have a real figher’s streak in you & I know that will extend to whatever you take on in life. We’ve all heard of miraculous stories in which people overcome extreme hardships such as walking again when doctors have said they won’t be possible, there’s even such a story in the guest book! I believe almost anything is possible and hold that faith for you Richard.
Sheila, I cannot donate funds right now but I would be pleased to donate time and care to babysit your kids. I know you don’t know me yet but I will find a way to pass my number along should you not see the email address I entered. I’ll probably go through Brent. My background is in nursing & I too reside in White Rock.
Richard, you’re story hits very close to home for me. We are about the same age, both with a loving family, except we live on opposite ends of the Country. On April 15th just days before your accident, I too suffered a major accident playing in a game of shinny with friends…head first into the boards at full speed. I was incredibly fortunate as I did break my neck in several places, but somehow didn’t do any major damage to my spinal cord. I’m simply recovering from spinal fusion surgery. I can’t imagine what you’re going through, but it sounds like you’re surrounded by a loving group of family and friends so I wish you all the best, and you can expect a donation from my family as well. Steve
Richard, your love for hockey is a lot like mine. Your dedication to the game and Your family gripped me deeply when I heard your story. I’m going to donate to your fund since your love for hockey is as great as any Canadians should be. My heart goes out to you and your family. Take care Richard. Hoping for the best.
Just want to let you know that I am praying for you and your family during this tough time and wishing you a speedy recovery.
Our PAC meetings are not the same without you. We all miss you.
Brent could you please contact me at your earliest convenience at 604-312-8924. I am in the process of organizing a dance at my acreage in South Surrey for June 23rd involving the WR Sr. Mens Hockey League.
Hey Richard, Long time no see! My heart goes out to you and your family. Stay strong and don’t lose your great sense of humor and that terrific smile it will help you get though this difficult time.
Thinking of you, love Mary
We have tried to come up with something really inspirational and original to say to you, but it has`t happened yet…..so stay tuned. In the meantime, we want to tell you how much we love you, admire your strength and positive attitude. Your dad would be so proud of you! You have the most amazing wife and friends, you really hit the jackpot there!! We are sending you a `cyber-hug` until we see you in person. We`ll catch a flight out to Vancouver for a visit when you`re feeling stronger.
Richard
Sorry to hear about your situation. Our Oldtimer team ( the Vancouver Flames) has been playing together at UBC since 1967, without incident. Unfortunately, a nephew of one of our players was similarly injured cycling at Whistler two years ago and went through the process you will be starting soon. The good news is that he graduated from UBC yesterday with a medical degree and is looking forward to a long career as a doctor.
Our cheque is in the mail.
All the best
Keith Morrison and the Vancouver Flames

The Staff and Students of The Hair Art Academy will be hosting a cut- a- thon on Sunday June 3, 2012 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with all funds to be donated to the trust. We wish Richard a speedy recovery,
Rich & Sheila,
We go through life not having a clue how many lives we’ve touched and lasting impressions we have made. We (Chad & I) are only 2 of the many many many people whose hearts you’ve touched just by your kindness, your gentleness, your love & dedication that you show your children. When we heard the news on April 23rd, I felt sick and haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since then. There’s a feeling of helplessness that we can’t just “fix” the problem. No one can fix the problem. The only thing we can do is to remind you that you’re not alone and that you need to be stronger than you’ve ever been before in your life…especially for Johnny & Jessa who are always going to want their dad there to talk to about the test they aced at school, the stanley cup playoffs, the girl/boy who they have a crush on at school, the chores they hate doing, etc etc etc. We love you guys and want to help you be strong in any way we can. We hope we can see your smiling faces soon. xxxooo Stephanie, Chad, Liam & Addie Jones
oh, man, Dick… it feels like 4 weeks ago we were planning our Halloween costumes and now this. I am so heart-broken for you and your family.
You will truly have your work cut out for you in making lemonade out of these lemons but, if anyone can do it…..
We are thinking of you and wishing you all the best – love you
Hi Rich, although we are complete strangers, I heard about your blog from an Elliotte Friedman article on CBC. Just wanted to say that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May God continue to give you strength for each day. Be blessed and continue to be a blessing to so many!

Hi everyone…Just wanted to thank everyone for the supportive and loving comments. We have read them to Richard at the hospital and is overwhelmed and touched deeply by all of this outpouring of support. He is doing better now since being moved to the spinal unit at VGH. He has a great attitude of ‘It is what it is and now lets get going on the rehab and on with life!’ His range of movement has not changed with just some bicep and shoulder movement but we know its a long journey and lots of hardwork to come ahead. So once again thanks to everyone.
Dearest Richard & Loving Family,
Knowing you brings to me a sense of a kind, warm, ambitious person who can & will overcome this life changing challenge.
My thoughts & prayers are with you & your wonderful family.
Elaine, HD
Thinking about you and your family alot Richard. Got to know you really well over the last year and know that the support is there from me in everyway and whatever I can do.
Please check the homepage often if you want to know Richards current condition. I update it daily with certain content. Fundraisers link also, always up to date.
just back from a day at vancouver general exhasting but really worth it richard got to see the kids today and then got to be moved out of ICU TO THE SPINAL UNIT room is more private lots of room for company plus he has his own tv there is no limit to how long we can stay lots of smiles today finally got to show him some of the well wishes on facebook and richardmorrisonfund.org……. he was very emotional so i had to keep a limit to it at first but gave him a fairly good overview of some of the support he has out there he was watching the coyotes win when we left thank you again everyone
Richard, you are in our thoughts daily. Old friends may not always see each other, but the connection never fades. Stay strong and never lose your infectious laugh and smile.
Your special nephew Andrew sends his biggest smile to inspire you that anything is possible. Can’t wait to see you and let you know that we are all here for you. You remind me so much of Andrew with your infectious grins and zest for life. You definitely are a source of inspiration to a lot of people. We love you! Keep on believing!
I really can’t imagine what this must be like for you guys. I am finding it very difficult to put into words what I feel for your family. I send you all much love and healing vibes. Big warm hugs to you all, Tristin.
I found out through some Facebook chatter. My heart just about stopped when I heard what has happened. Rich, you’ve always been an amazing person. Greeting everything that came your way with a smile on your face. I’m a little at a loss for words. All I can do is offer to help in any way I can. You and your family are in my thoughts daily.
Read about this cause on Elliotte Friedmans blog. From another die hard hockey fan and beer league player from the east coast, battle hard and get well soon! Crossing my fingers for you and your family. You sound like a great guy. Hope the donation helps.
I just arrived back from the hospital with Al, Jeff and J, Neil arrived shortly after us. Richard was in very good spirits and joking around, he has not lost his sense of humor which is really good. He says in his way, THANK YOU to everybody who is thinking and helping him. When he is able to talk, he will tell you himself. We tried spelling with the alphabet chart and realized we sucked badly, Al got one word right and it was “OPPORTUNITIES” this is how Richard sees his next journey in life. How awesome is that!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!!
Richard seems like an amazing man to go through what he has and to still have a possitive out look on his life. He is one in a million.
Keep up your your spirtis Richard as you will be an inspiration to many!
Warm regards Janette Richardson

I came across this story via twitter and was very moved as I too am a husband and father who plays rec hockey on occasion. So I felt very compelled to send you this note and of course make a donation. It looks as though you are surrounded by some wonderful people Richard and that in itself can make all the difference in the world. Get well soon Richard and work hard, your wife and kids need you!!
Just read this story from Elliott Friedman’s 30 thoughts. On behalf of the UBC Men’s Hockey program, we offer our condolences to the Morrison family and wish them all the best in Richard’s recovery.
Hey everyone I was in to see Richard yesterday and I just have to say a quote from a friend of ours, Holly Stewart. “Richard has a special quality that very few people have.” I saw that yesterday. His joy of life is shining through. I love this guy.
Diane & Mike Lee and Framily, Lil and Terry Holloway
Rich Ive done alot of reading online about this type of accident Ive read alot of recovery and I know you can be added to that list because you are a great man and strong! I know its called a miracle but we all know you can pull the miracle off! We all love you and pray for nothing but the best for you and your family!!!!
Christy, thank you for your wonderful words, it certainly allows us to have hope and much faith in Richards condition and what he will endure with his family, all i know is if hes golfing again, he will shoot 99, always seems to be the same score.
Have faith Morrison family. My father was 44 when he broke his neck (C6-C7) playing hockey. The doctors told him he’d never walk again either. But after many grueling months in VGH and GF Strong and non-stop physio, he is walking, running, playing tennis and golf again (my mom won’t let him back on the ice – otherwise he’d be doing that too!). The body is a miraculous thing. Stay strong.
Hey Rich, you truly are one of the strongest people I know with an even bigger heart to go with it. My thoughts and prayers are with you everyday, and my heart goes out to Sheila and your wonderful family. My family and friends in New Zealand send there love across the miles.
Rich,, your great smile and easy way about you will be greatly missed around the office. You have an amazing friend in Brent. I thank him profusely for keeping us posted. My prayers go out to you, Sheila and your two beautiful children. I am praying for a miracle. You deserve it.
From all of the Blades hockey team, keep your head up. We had a severe injury on our team as well and prevailed. Luckily it sounds as if support runs deep amongst your family and friends. All the best and life is still beautiful !
Richbabich…I can’t believe this has happened! You are an amazing person and truly one of the most genuine, giving and warm people I have had the privilege to call a friend. I think of you all the time, (especially during the Canucks/Oilers games knowing that at any time my phone is going to ring), even though we don’t get to see each other very often. My heart goes out to you and your family at this extraordinarily difficult time. You hang in there. We are all fighters, especially for the people we love and care about. There are loads of people who love you and who are ready to support you and fight alongside you in this. I’m honoured to count myself among them. You hang in there and we’ll see you soon ok?
Xoxo Kimmie
Rich, Sheila and Family. We all know that words are inadequate to convey feelings, but they are all we have to express our deepest concerns. Rich, keep your zest for life alive, and your infectious attitude burning, for you have much to offer. You’re in our thoughts.
you are one very lucky/unlucky person. Your friens care enough to raise funds and have a website and put the story on the news. What a very unfortunate thing to have happen. God is with you and yours.

I have left a donation to go towards easing some of that pain. I know you have a long road ahead and my husband and I are rooting for you.
While it’s been a very long time since we were young and hanging out with Pat, Terri, Roger, etc. I just wanted to pass along my support and prayers. Wish you a speedy recovery.
Richard, You are an incredibly strong and optimistic person who we know has what it takes to overcome this challenge! Your generous, loving personality has created an amazing support network that is here for you now and in the future. Get well soon my friend! Love, Carla & Cal

You and your family are in the thoughts and prayers of many. There are a lot of people helping out your family so please don’t worry about that. Take care and best wishes from Kathy
You do not know me but based on what I have read about you and your character…that does not seem to matter, you sound like an amazing person and your friend Brent has done an amazing job getting your story out there for people like me to hear. Such a great job that I’ve felt compelled to write something here for you to read during your recovery when I heard about your accident on the radio today. I am just a 28 years old male from Maple Ridge who lives and breaths hockey much like yourself. No one expects something like this to happen to them and when it does it really makes you think about how lucky we all are that it doesn’t happen more often. I will be pulling for you my friend and I have saved the link to this site so that I can check up on you and your progress in the coming weeks/months. Take care buddy and know that I will be thinking about you, your family, and friends throughout the remainder of my playoff season and hopefully into our provincials out of the coquitlam planet ice. I hope to stay in touch if at all possible. Feel free to contact me if you ever want to talk hockey.
Rich,
Hang in there buddy. Stay strong and know that we are thinking about and your family.
It’s an honour and a privileged to be your friend and team mate.
Rich, Sheila, John & Jessa – I am so sorry to hear of this tragic accident. Although I don’t know you very well yet – just brief interactions at kindergarten drop off and pick up – I have been very touched by your obvious joy for life. You are such a happy family, always smiling, and Rich is always playing with the kids. It’s been a delight to watch. As you know, all the parents from John’s kindergarten class are rallying support and wishing for you to have the fastest, best outcome imaginable. Get well soon! ~Shannon, Steve & Daniel
Rich, I am very to sorry to hear this news. I know with your enormous heart and loving family and friends, you will get through this. My love to you and your family. Great memories playing hockey with you and the Titans!
Rich, I was blown away that night I received the first email… but hey buddy, if anyone can get through this, it you man. You’re to tough to let this get in your way!! I know I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to go through something like this, but just remember, we’re all here for you, we’re here to help. Wishing the best… hope to see you soon, take care.
I want to take a minute to say thanks to everyone who is involved, in this story in any way at all. The focus is on Rich, his recovery, his family and their support group is growing. Many people are involved in making this fundraiser an ongoing campaign. Special thanks to Eric Ferris and his team for helping with taking the skeleton website that was thrown together into a great functional New Web site that will enable us to do alot more than the previous site. Links will be added daily for media coverage, radio interviews, and e commerce.
I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you Richard. We are all thinking of you and your family. Wishing you the best recovery possible. Everyone at White Rock Çome Share.
All your Brothers and Sisters at the Dart are pullin’ for you Brother Richard! Get well quick! There’s a Ton o’ Love and Prayers comin’ your way!…And we are gonna do everything we can to help our Great and Dear Friend….

I read about your accident on the internet..I am half a country away but I feel like I have to reach out to you and your family..I am so sorry this has happened to you…I hope to be able to add some support to your ongoing needs…but, even at this darkest hour, know that you are cared about by countless people who will never really know you..but are hoping you well in your recovery from this accident..you can do it..stay strong..stay focused..it sounds like you have a great support system..you will need them…just know that you are thought of…and I hope you the very, very best in your recovery…
Thank you Brent for doing a great job, working non stop to make this website, trust funds and the families life a little easier at such a difficult time. I know their are others helping as well which is a testiment of the impact Rich has had on our lives. So to all those involved thank you, this hardwork is allowing Sheila to be with Rich and the kids. This also supports Richard and Sheila’s other family members who are living across Canada and the US to make arrangements to be at his side. Thank-you for taking care of my little buddy. I Love You all
Hey Rich. I have been thinking of you lots since Saturday, as have the rest of the guys at Bears hockey. You are a class act and a great teammate and friend. Your friends and family must be incredible as well because they appear to be doing amazing work to try to get you the help and support you need. I wish you and your family the best in the days ahead.
Richard,
We don’t know you and you don’t know us, but your story has touched us. We are a family from Prince George B.C. that closely resembles yours. We are in our 40′s with 2 young children, and have a very active lifestyle that includes a lot of hockey. Your accident could have easily happened to my husband or any of our friends. As well, a good friend of ours had a similar injury (C2-C3) mountain biking 2 years ago and we understand what your upcoming struggles may be in your rehabilitation. It certainly seems you have an amazing support crew, and that, along with sheer determination is going to get you a long way. Our friend, with assistance, was downhill skiing ths year. We wish you miracles in your recovery.
Hey Richard,Sheila, Johnny and Jessa. Thinking of you guys lots at this time and praying for a speedy recovery. I feel that everyone at the Dorchester is there for you as we all consider you great neighbors and friends. Best wishes Laurie
I haave not met Richard but working like myself at handydart I know he has the heart and soul of a saint. I am praying for you. All of your borthers and sis’ at work are thinking of you. Lot sof love, prayers and well wishes from your co-workers.
I’ve been thinking about you and your family daily, Rich. I don’t know you nearly as well as many others do yet, between our interaction as Titans and the words expressed by everyone else, it is clear to me that you are the epitome of a great father, friend, teammate, and person. You and your family clearly have a difficult road ahead as you recover, but you seem to have the skills and support available to make that journey possible. Make use of the people around you who love you – we all want to help, in whichever ways we can. I hope to see you again soon, on the ice or otherwise. Get well soon, buddy.
My thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery Rich! As a new titian you made me feel like a team mate right from the first game ! I look forward to helping in any way I can!! (((HUG)))
Am thinking of you and your family keep the faith and am sorry this had to happen . We have lost touch over the years but always thought of you so hope to see you soon with all my Love cousin and all my prayers for you and your family that things will get better.
I am so very sorry that this happened. When I first met you over 25 years ago you striked me as a very upbeat, optimistic and happy person. Throughout the years I saw that my first impression of you was correct. I just know that you’ll find the inner strength to recover. My thoughts are with you
Rich – I’ve only known you for a short while through Bears hockey, but I can understand why so many people think so highly of you. Wishing you lots of strength, faith and luck for the road ahead, and praying that we’ll share the ice together again in the future.
Richard – You and your family have a tough road ahead. Remember you can’t change the past you can only go forwards from here. Fight to be the best that you can be from this point onward
Richard you may be my little brother but you have taught me how to see the beauty in the world and in people and to live every day for all its worth now you can show more courage then ever in your recovery and I look forward to the next walk on the beach with you be strong see you soon
Rich, I can’t even find the words to express how sorry I am for what you’re going through. I’m also very sorry that we’ve lost touch, and I want you to know that you, Sheila, Johnny and Jessa have been in my thoughts non-stop since I heard about your accident. I know if anyone can pull through this, and find all the positives life has in store ahead, it’s you. Be a fighter, stay strong, and never lose faith in yourself or those who love you.
What do you say to something like this? Best wishes to you and your family. Let me know if there’s anything you need. If you deal with this the way you have played hockey: I’ll see you on the ice again sooner rather than later.
Rich, It is an honour to know you and you are a great friend and an amazing person. Your road ahead is tougher than we can imagine but all of us love and care about You, Sheila, Johnny & Jessa, and will do everything we can to give back to what you have given us over the years. If there is anyone that has the strength to make it, it’s you. Be seeing you soon, -Marty-
I really hope Uncle Richard feels better, and bets better soon. I’m praying to God hoping he recovers evn though, they say he might never walk again. I hope Auntie Sheila, Johnny, Jessa will get the amazing Uncle Richard back to them soon enough. Uncle Richard is such a great guy and one of the Best Uncles anyone could ever ask for. I might even come in the summer to help Auntie Sheila to take care of the kids in the summer maybe i will see you soon. I love you Uncle Richard
We are all going to be there for you Rich, as you were for so many of us. It is our time to pay you back for all the love and support you have given us all for so many years. Love Bart

Give the kids a big hug from Lachlan, Molly, and I.
Take care! Kim

Dear Richard & family,
I came across your story in the local newspaper.
Blessings,
Michelle

Hi Rich, Sheila, and family,
I found out through some Facebook chatter. My heart just about stopped when I heard what has happened. Rich, you’ve always been an amazing person. Hi Everyone,
I just arrived back from the hospital with Al, Jeff and J, Neil arrived shortly after us.
Janette Richardson
Wow!!
Richard seems like an amazing man to go through what he has and to still have a possitive out look on his life. He is one in a million.
Keep up your your spirtis Richard as you will be an inspiration to many!

Rich,
You do not know me but based on what I have read about you and your character…that does not seem to matter, you sound like an amazing person and your friend Brent has done an amazing job getting your story out there for people like me to hear.
Kyle,
Hak Choi
Rich,
Hang in there buddy.

Good Morning Everyone,
I want to take a minute to say thanks to everyone who is involved, in this story in any way at all.
Stay strong Rich>>>

Thank you Brent for doing a great job, working non stop to make this website, trust funds and the families life a little easier at such a difficult time. I know their are others helping as well which is a testiment of the impact Rich has had on our lives. So to all those involved thank you, this hardwork is allowing Sheila to be with Rich and the kids. This also supports Richard and Sheila’s other family members who are living across Canada and the US to make arrangements to be at his side. Thank-you for taking care of my little buddy. I Love You all
Todd Corbett
Hey Richard, Our thoughts are with you and your family, please be well.

Nelson family
Richard,
We don’t know you and you don’t know us, but your story has touched us.
Terry & Kelly Walters
Rich,Sheila,Johnny&Jessa please know your in our thoughts and prayers. We’re always here for you.

Peter Kickham
Hang in there Rich, looking forward to seeing you again soon!

What do you say to something like this? Best wishes to you and your family. Let me know if there’s anything you need. If you deal with this the way you have played hockey: I’ll see you on the ice again sooner rather than later.
